HISTORY Of The Mid-Plains League
The Mid-Plains League is a collegiate wooden bat experience located in Kansas and Missouri.

In 2014, the league was formed with the top independent teams playing near or along I-70 and I-35. Competitive games, community pride, travel considerations and player safety were major factors that influenced the foundation of our existence. The Original Six teams formed a unique bond and developed a league second to none. In short order, Twenty One players have been selected in the Major League draft. Each summer, over 250 Student-Athletes from across the country call the Mid-Plains League their summer home. During the months of June and July, our teams play 4 game sets against one another- similar to Spring ball in college conferences. This set-up creates competitiveness and instant rivalries and includes a system that leads to the best-of-three Championship series. The champ is crowned with the Brett Cowdin Memorial Cup, named after one of the founding members who passed away, just prior to the start of the league.

Other awards include the All Star selections, All League team, Manager of the Year, Organization of the Year, Player of the Year, and the "Conner Taylor" Pitcher of the Year, named after a Baldwin City Blues student-athlete who tragically lost his life.

Today, A 501 (c)(3) non profit entity, the Mid-Plains League offers the summer collegiate wooden bat experience to aspiring young student-athletes as an avenue to improve their skills both "on and off the field". Philanthropic events are at the forefront of this endeavor. Players contribute to the community in a myriad of ways to make the lives of others better.

The 2022 version (year 9) of the league includes founding member teams from Baldwin City, Sabetha, Lawrence, Junction City and Topeka on the Kansas side and Belton on the Missouri side.
